Welcome back to school!!! We had a very hot,hot summer. As I am sitting here writing this, it is September 1 and it is suppose to 97 degrees today. Thank you to all the children who came for care and camps this summer. We had a wonderful time with a different theme each week.
We do have some staff changes to mention. Mrs. Smith and Ashley P. will no longer be with us. Mrs Smith has decided to home school her two younger children along with her three older children this year. Ashley P. will be headed up to Maine to attend college up there. We will miss the both of them. We have two new staff people who will be starting with us in September, Michelle and Mrs. Baker. Please introduce yourself and tell the hello.

We are also subscribing to Scholastic book club again this year. You are under no obligation to order books. This is a good way to offer you these books at a low cost. If you would like to order please make your checks payable to Scholastic book clubs.

Sometime at the end of September or begining of October we will have a photagrapher come to take our pictures. He takes an individual picture and then a group picture. Once we have scheduled date I will let you know.

We have started with the alphabet already. The children have been busy with a number of different activities. We have been cutting, gluing, playing, singing, reading and working some more. With everything that is going on in our day we are learning that we are special individuals but still part of a group. At Red Sneakers we put a lot of emphasize on being kind to others and expecting their kindness in return. "Conflict resolution" is part of our daily vocabulary. Some phrases that you might hear are "Can I use that when you are done?", "That hurt my feelings.","Can you please help me?'.These are life learning skills that make children responsible and help with building self-esteem. We start off our year by talking about safety rules and why we need them. We have also been trying to teach them a health rule, sneeze or cough into your elbow, the germs wont get passed around. Here is a poem I wont use my hands, I really won't do it. I'll just use my elbow that's all there is too it!

Please remember that having a number of children who are the same size and age can lead to confusion with clothing, security items and blankets. You would be surprised to hear that your child may or may not know if an item is theirs.Especially if it is a handme down. Names on everything, Please. In the bathrooms we have bags hanging up and we can put extra clothing in them for your children.

We have a very young group this year. We are learning to say the "Pledge of Allegiance", singing "Your a grand olde Flag". Learning a new song about a meterologist, what day of the week is it? We will be singing different songs about the letter of the week also.

Please remember we are closed for the Labor day holiday. This is a staff paid holiday, so that they like you can enjoy the day off.

We are off to a great year, we have a wonderful group of children and parents. Thank you, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you,
Cindy Hall
